Nice photos / Canyon National Recreation Area
Lake Powell, part of the Glen Canyon national Recreation Area is a stark meeting of water and stone, with nearly 2000 mi of meandering shoreline resulting from the construction of Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River. Side canyons and coves hold Indian ruins, rock art, and natural wonders such as the Rainbow Bridge National Monument. To get here from Monticello, take U.S. 191 South and US 95 west. From U.S. 95 you could also branch south on Route 276 west. Spring and fall are the best times to visit - summer temperatures are often over 100 degree F.
